The National University (NU) going to conduct the Honours Admission Test for the 2025–26 session at the end of December 2025. Vice-Chancellor Professor A. S. M. Amanullah shared this information.
Like last year, the exam will be held in multiple-choice (MCQ) format for all affiliated colleges that offer undergraduate (honours) programs. This year’s process will follow the same method introduced in 2024.
NU Honours Admission Test 2026
The National University is the largest public university in Bangladesh. Every year, thousands of students apply for Honours admission under its 881 affiliated colleges.
For the 2025–26 academic year, the admission test will conduct once again in MCQ-based. The exam will be held at the end of December, and only those who pass will be considered for admission.
Before 2015, NU used to take admission tests regularly. Later, from 2015–16 to 2023–24, students were admitted based only on their SSC and HSC GPAs. In 2024, NU reintroduced the admission test system to make the selection process fairer and more transparent.
Exam System and Mark Distribution
The NU Honours Admission Test 2025-2026 will be simple and fully objective.
Here are the key details:
- Question Type: Multiple Choice (MCQ)
- Total Marks: 100
- Duration: 1 hour
- Marking: 1 mark for each correct answer
- Negative Marking: None
The question paper will include:
| Subject | Marks |
| Bangla | 20 |
| English | 20 |
| General Knowledge | 20 |
| Subject-Based (HSC topics) | 40 |
| Total | 100 |
Like the last year, students will need to get at least 35 marks to pass the exam. Science, Humanities, and Business Studies will follow this same pattern, but the subject-based part will differ according to the student’s HSC background.
How the Merit List Will Be Made
The final merit list will be prepared based on a total of 200 marks. It will include both academic results and admission test marks.
- 40% of SSC GPA (including 4th subject) = 40 marks
- 60% of HSC GPA (including 4th subject) = 60 marks
- Admission Test Marks = 100 marks
That makes a total of 200 marks for the final merit calculation.
In short: your performance in both GPA and the admission test will decide your place on the merit list.
