A big decision is coming this week about Government School Admission (GSA). Parents and students across the country are waiting for this. The Ministry of Education will decide on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, whether the GSA Admission 2026 will be done through a digital lottery or an admission test.
The final decision about the admission system will come after a meeting between the Ministry of Education and the Inter-Education Board.
Professor Dr. Khondoker Ehsanul Kabir, Chairman of the Dhaka Education Board, said, “No decision has been made yet. The admission policy will be finalized in Wednesday’s meeting.”
Until the meeting is held, parents and students are asked to wait for official information.
There is a clear divide between parents and teachers.
- Teachers’ groups want the admission test to return. They believe tests help select students based on merit and encourage better study habits.
- Parents’ groups support the lottery system, saying it keeps the process fair, reduces pressure on children, and limits corruption.
Both sides have valid points, but the final call will come from the Ministry. In recent years, the government has used a digital lottery system for school admissions.
However, teachers say the lottery does not reward hardworking students. Parents saying that exams cause stress for young children and increase the cost of private coaching.
