The Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) has announced a major change for its upcoming undergraduate admission test for the 2025–26 academic session. Unlike previous years, there will be no preliminary selection test this time. The BUET Admission process will be conducted in a single written exam, scheduled for January 10, 2026.
The decision was finalized at a meeting of BUET’s Admission Test Organizing Committee held on Saturday (October 25). Later, Professor Dr. Abdul Jalil, Chairman of the committee, officially confirmed the details to the media.
“This year, the exam will not be held in two phases. There will be no preliminary selection test. Instead, the entire process will take place in a single written phase,” said Professor Jalil.
In the last few years, BUET conducted its admission in two phases: a preliminary (MCQ-type) exam to shortlist candidates, followed by a final written test. However, for 2025–26, the university decided to simplify the process and hold only one written exam.
“All other aspects of the admission exam will remain unchanged. Only the exam structure has been modified to one phase,” he added.
The official admission circular containing detailed instructions, application guidelines, fees, and seat distribution will be published soon in national newspapers and on the BUET website.
