The Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) has officially announced the schedule for its undergraduate admission test for the 2025–26 academic session. This year, there will be no preliminary selection test.
The online application for the BUET Admission 2026 will be start on November 16, 2025, and will continue for about three weeks. The admission test will be held on January 10, 2026.
This decision was confirmed after a meeting of BUET’s Admission Test Organizing Committee held on Saturday (October 25). Later in the evening, Professor Dr. Abdul Jalil, Chairman of the committee, shared the information with the media.
“We will start accepting applications from November 16. The process will continue for about three weeks or slightly longer. The detailed circular, including the deadline, will be published soon in newspapers and on the BUET website,” — said Professor Jalil.

No Preliminary Selection Test
Unlike previous years, there will be no preliminary selection test or two-phase exam this time. The 2025–26 admission test will be conducted in a single phase, and it will include only a written exam. All other exam procedures will remain the same as before.
Professor Jalil explained,
“There will be no selection or two-phase system this year. The exam will be held in a single phase — only written. All other aspects will remain unchanged.”

GPA Requirement Remains the Same
Addressing the GPA criteria, Professor Jalil also confirmed that there will be no relaxation in eligibility requirements this year. Applicants must still have a GPA-5 in HSC, including separate GPA-5s in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. The GPA Requirement will remain the same just like previous sessions, report JagoNews24.com.
“The results this year are not bad; they are realistic. Only truly meritorious students have achieved GPA-5. So, the eligibility criteria will remain unchanged,” he added.
