High School Holiday List 2026 Published at Secondary Education Board

The High School Holiday List 2026 has been officially published. The Ministry of Education Board issued a notice in this regard. This holiday list will apply to all government and private secondary and junior secondary schools in the country.

The notice was released on Sunday, December 28, by the Government Secondary-1 Branch of the Secondary and Higher Education Division. Students, teachers, and parents can now see how many holidays schools will have in the 2026 academic year.

According to the official announcement, schools will have a total of 64 days of holidays in 2026.

Fewer Holidays Compared to Last Year

In 2025, schools enjoyed 76 days of holidays. In comparison, the number of holidays in 2026 has been reduced by 12 days.

Education officials said the change was made to ensure more regular class days. The goal is to improve learning while still keeping breaks for major religious and national events.

Even with fewer holidays, the schedule includes all important occasions.

Longest School Holiday in March 2026

The longest school vacation in 2026 will take place in March. Schools will remain closed from March 8 to March 26. This means students will get 19 continuous days off.

This long break has been planned around several major events. These include the holy month of Ramadan, Shab-e-Qadr, Jumatul Bida, and Eid-ul-Fitr. The holiday period also includes the advent of Sri Sri Harichand Thakur and Independence Day and National Day.

Because of this combined schedule, students will have enough time for prayer, family visits, and rest.

Eid-ul-Azha and Summer Vacation

Another important holiday period will come during Eid al-Adha. Schools will be closed from May 24 to June 4. This break will last for 12 days.

The summer vacation has been added to the Eid-ul-Azha holidays. This gives students a chance to relax during the hotter months of the year. Many families also use this time for travel and personal plans.

Durga Puja Holidays in October

For Durga Puja, schools will observe holidays from October 18 to October 22. This will be a five-day break.

Durga Puja is one of the biggest religious festivals in the country. The holiday allows students and teachers to take part in celebrations without pressure from school activities.

Winter Vacation and Christmas Holiday

At the end of the year, schools will go on winter vacation starting from December 20. The holiday will continue until December 29.

This period includes Christmas, which marks the birth anniversary of Jesus Christ. In total, students will enjoy 10 days of winter holidays before the new year begins.

What Students and Parents Should Know

The holiday list published by the Ministry of Education is mandatory for all schools. Institutions must plan exams, classes, and other activities based on this schedule.

Students are advised to use the long holidays wisely. Regular study during breaks can help reduce pressure during exam time. Parents should also stay in touch with schools for any future notices.
