The 49th Special BCS Exam 2025 has finally been held. On Friday, October 10, thousands of candidates appeared for the Preliminary and Written Exam conducted by the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC). The exam took place from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon at various centers in Dhaka.
This year, the excitement and competition were higher than ever. More than 312,000 candidates took part in the test, all hoping to secure one of the 683 available posts under the General Education Cadre. That means about 456 people are competing for each post — a clear sign of how tough the BCS race has become.
BPSC Completed All Preparations Smoothly
The Bangladesh Public Service Commission confirmed that all exam arrangements were completed in advance. This included publishing the seat plan, exam schedule, and guidelines for candidates.
To make sure everything went smoothly, BPSC also worked with law enforcement and administrative officers. The exam centers were well-organized, and strict monitoring was in place to ensure a fair process.
Important Exam Rules and Timing
According to the official notice, all candidates had to enter the exam hall by 9:30 AM sharp. Anyone arriving late was not allowed inside after that time.
Inside the hall, candidates received one of four answer sheet sets — Set 1, Set 2, Set 3, or Set 4 — to prevent any kind of irregularities. Once the question papers were handed out, no one could leave the room until the exam ended at 12:00 Noon.
These strict rules helped maintain order and fairness across all centers.
Massive Competition for Limited Posts
The 49th Special BCS Exam is one of the most competitive public service exams in the country. With only 683 vacancies and more than 3 lakh applications, candidates needed strong preparation to perform well.
This special BCS mainly aims to recruit qualified teachers for colleges and universities under the General Education Cadre. As always, the goal of the commission is to select the most capable and deserving candidates through a transparent process.
What’s Next After the Exam?
After the preliminary exam, BPSC will start evaluating the answer sheets. Once the results are ready, the Preliminary Result will be published on the official website (www.bpsc.gov.bd).
Candidates who pass the preliminary stage will then be called for the Written Exam and later the Viva Voce (oral test). The final merit list will be prepared based on performance in all three stages.
