The application process for Medical and Dental Admission 2026 has ended, and this year the competition is higher than expected. More than 1 lakh 22 thousand students have already completed their application by paying the fee. The Directorate General of Health Education (DGHE) confirmed the number and mentioned that it may increase a little more before the final deadline.
This year, the number of applicants is very high compared to the available seats. Until Saturday night, 1,22,521 students completed the fee payment. With only 5,100 seats in government medical colleges and 545 seats in government dental colleges, the competition stands at 22 candidates for each seat.
DGHE officials also said that the total number of applicants might increase by 1,000 to 1,500 more as the payment window remains open until midnight.

Medical–Dental Admission Test 2026 Exam Date
The admission test for MBBS and BDS will be held on the same day and with the same question paper.
- Exam Date: 12 December 2025
- Time: 10:00 AM to 11:15 AM
All candidates must reach the exam center early to avoid any last-minute issues.
Exam Method and Mark Distribution
The test will be taken in MCQ format with a total of 100 marks. The duration of the exam is 1 hour 15 minutes.
Subject-Wise Marks
- Biology: 30 marks
- Chemistry: 25 marks
- Physics: 15 marks
- English: 15 marks
- General Knowledge, Aptitude & Human Values: 15 marks
Marking Rules
- Negative marking: 0.25 marks will be cut for each wrong answer.
- Pass mark: Minimum 40 marks out of 100.
The question paper will be the same for both Medical (MBBS) and Dental (BDS) candidates.
How the Merit List Will Be Prepared
The merit list for Medical Admission 2026 will be made based on both the exam marks and academic results from SSC and HSC.
Conversion of GPA into Marks
- SSC GPA × 8 = 40 marks
- HSC GPA × 12 = 60 marks
These 100 marks will then be added to your written exam score to prepare the final merit list.
Note that the candidates who passed the HSC Exam in 2024 will lose 3 marks. On the other hand, students who were admitted to any government medical or dental college earlier will lose 5 marks.
The medical and dental admission test is held across the country at the same time. The exam will begin at 10:00 AM and end at 11:15 AM. Students should bring their admit card and reach the exam center at least one hour before the exam starts.
No electronic devices or bags are allowed inside the exam hall, so students need to follow all instructions carefully.
